East Timor-01.jpg

Lakohi an independence activist, acting as a courier, on his way to a Falintil guerrilla camp.

His name means 'I don't want to integrate with Indonesia'.

All the Falintil and independence activists give themselves these names so that their real identities cannot be discovered.

The Indonesian military imprisoned him at the age of 13 for stealing guns and ammunition from the army.

He was released in 1998 after 4 years and 8 months in jail.

East Timor, March 1999.
