Luhanske, eastern Ukraine, Nov. 2017.
Lyubov Stepanova, 71.
With her house and its refurbished roof in the background, she reflects on when the property was hit by three artillery shells in 2015, fired by pro-Russian separatists’.
While fortunate to escape injury herself, several of her neighbours have been killed during the shelling of recent years.
She and her husband had built up their house over 42 years and the roof was replaced in the spring of 2017 through support from the UNHCR.
